Instrumentation of the Specola Solare Ticinese

The instrumentation at the Specola is composed by:

  • a Zeiss refractor (150 mm opening) in an hemispheric dome (used for the sunspot drawings),
  • a vertical coelostat device with 200 mm flat mirrors and a 140 mm refractor used for the projection of the solar spectrum for educational purposes.

For night observations the following instrument is also available:

  • a Schimdt-Cassegrain D=200 mm f/10 reflector (co-owned with the Società Astronomica Ticinese), positioned on the terrace of the coelostat for the occasion, used for educational purposes.
